இக்கட்டுரை தமிழ் சிற்றிலக்கிய வகைமைகளுள் ஒன்றான பள்ளு இலக்கியம் வெளிப்படுத்தும் உழவர் சமூகத்தின் வாழ்வியல் கூறுகளை விரிவாக ஆராய்கிறது. உழவுத் தொழிலைப் போற்றும் மள்ளர் அல்லது உழவர் பெருமக்களின் பண்பாடு, சடங்குகள் மற்றும் அவர்களின் அன்றாட வாழ்க்கை முறைகளைப் பதிவு செய்வதே இவ்வாய்வின் நோக்கமாகும். சங்க கால உழத்திப்பாட்டு முதல் பிற்கால பள்ளு நூல்கள் வரை நிலவும் இலக்கியத் தொடர்புகளைக் குறிப்பிடும் இக்கட்டுரை, முக்கூடற்பள்ளு, திருமலை முருகன் பள்ளு போன்ற நூல்களில் இடம்பெற்றுள்ள மழைக்குறிகள், சகுனங்கள், மற்றும் திருமணச் சடங்குகள் குறித்து விளக்குகிறது. மேலும், உழவுத் தொழில் சார்ந்த கலைச்சொற்கள் மற்றும் வட்டாரப் பழமொழிகள் எவ்வாறு பள்ளு இலக்கியங்களில் ஆவணப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன என்பதையும் இவ்வாய்வு சுட்டிக்காட்டுகிறது. ஒட்டுமொத்தமாக, பள்ளு இலக்கியங்கள் வெறும் கற்பனைப் படைப்புகளாக இன்றி, தமிழகத்தின் வேளாண் மரபையும் சமூகக் கூறுகளையும் பாதுகாக்கும் காலப்பெட்டகங்களாகத் திகழ்வதை இக்கட்டுரை உறுதி செய்கிறது.

Abstract
This research paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the lifestyle and cultural aspects of the farming community as portrayed in Pallu literature, a significant genre of Tamil Minor Literature (Sittrilakkiyam). The primary objective of this study is to highlight the cultural traditions, rituals, and daily routines of the Mallars (farmers) who dedicated their lives to agriculture. Tracing the literary evolution from ancient labor songs (Uzhatthippattu) to later Pallu texts, the paper examines specific elements such as rain omens, omens of fortune, and marriage customs found in works like Mukkudar Pallu and Thirumalai Murugan Pallu. Furthermore, the study explores how agricultural terminology and regional proverbs are meticulously documented within these texts. Ultimately, the research affirms that Pallu literature serves not merely as creative fiction but as a vital historical archive, preserving the agrarian heritage and social fabric of ancient Tamil Nadu.
