Abstract

This study aims to identify and examine the ethical principles of the Tirukkural as reflected in the short stories featured in Thiravi, a collection by the writer Paavai. The research is conducted through an explanatory and qualitative approach. This method is employed to gain a comprehensive understanding of how Tirukkural ethics are integrated into Paavai’s short stories. The findings of the study, based on an analysis of twenty seven short stories, reveal that twelve ethical concepts derived from the Tirukkural are discernible across twenty-one of the stories. Moreover, the study highlights Paavai’s literary skill in seamlessly weaving Tirukkural ethics into the fabric of her narratives.
