The Use of the Interjection, “Upavamai” In the Perumbanattupadi

Abstract

Perumpanatrupaadi Sangam period Tamil literary work. It is a literary work in the Pattupatil collection. In it, a panan who plays the Periyazh is consoled by a king named Thondaiman Ilandhirayan who is living in poverty. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the grammar of metaphorical interjections in the Pattupatil songs of Perumpanatrupaadi. This is a qualitative study. Identifying the use of metaphorical interjections in the Pattupatil songs is the discovery of this study. The use of more than eighty metaphorical interjections was identified in the Pattupatil with a total of 500 lines. Some of the Pattupatil lines were included in this study.
