Abstract

This article endeavors to examine the essence of social realism in Benyamin's novel 'Aadujeevitham'. The novel is structured to elucidate the author's native Kerala and its society through the perspective of an expatriate surviving in the harsh desert sands of Arab nations. Through rigorous analysis, this study identifies and examines the fundamental elements of social realism embedded within the narrative framework. The research attempts to provide scholarly justification for the author's literary approach and thematic choices. The novel transcends mere storytelling to present an authentic portrayal of human struggle and survival. As the author emphasizes, "This is not merely Najeeb's story, but a true life experience—the life of a goat." The work serves as a profound commentary on displacement, exploitation, and the human condition under extreme circumstances, making it a significant contribution to contemporary social realist literature.
